A highly effective pattern for when the fishing is tough or the temperates are up. Can be fished in a multitude of different ways but for summer Trout fishing it’s best to pair them with a sinking line and let them down to the bottom, retrieving them very slowly to be in the strike zone as long as possible. Trout tend to sit very deep in the warm summer months when the water is cooler, so getting down there is key if you want to hook a couple. Fish a short fluorocarbon leader and sinking line with a booby on the end and then a small dropper tied New Zealand style to the shank of the hook to maximize your chances.
Can also be fished more actively on an intermediate line in a more “washing line” approach or drifted alongside reed channels/drop-offs.
