The Glass Canon – From Greek Origins Meaning The Glass Ruler
The heavy hitter in our Glass Canon lineup, the 8′ 8wt is a powerful rod built to take on Largies, Grunter, and whatever else is up to the challenge.
Our Glass Canon fly rods are assembled in South Africa and are made from high-grade s-grade fiberglass. S-Grade fiberglass is much faster, stronger, and more rigid than e-grade or traditional glass fly rods. This action profile and strength lends itself exceptionally well to an 8wt fly rod and in 8′ guise, it’s something special to cast! The shorter length makes the rod incredibly accurate and feels much lighter to cast.

Some More Information On The Glass Canon Range Of Fiberglass Fly Rods From Reel Fly Fishing
Built to bridge the gap in speed and feel between that of a split cane and carbon fiber fly rod. The Glass Canon is vastly different from the old fiberglass rods of yesteryear due to the materials, design, and nature of the blanks. S-Grade fiberglass provides a much faster and more responsive action when compared to that of Ultra-Glass or E-glass. Our S-Grade fiberglass blanks are also wrapped in a unique way that the final layer gives that traditional uni-directional look and feel.
The Glass Canon range feels unlike anything else out there, with a fantastically smooth action and deep loading power along with a relatively quick recovery rate for fiberglass. This extremely different progressive medium action lends itself exceptionally well to dry fly presentations as well as good distance casting. Light tippet protection is handled with ease due to the naturally flexible nature of S-glass in the mid through to tip sections of the rod.
If you are looking for a little throwback to where it all started but with a uniquely modern twist then the 2022 range of Glass Canon fly rods is an absolute must!
