Octobraid Braided Fly Backing

Octobraid is our answer to large backing capacity backing needs but with minimal diameter. Eight stranded braided PE backings are almost completely round and as such they lie very flat when used as backing on a fly fishing reel. With a breaking strain at 31lb for 0.26mm diameter, the average fly reel will easily take a full 150-meter spool even when paired with a much heavier fly line than that of which your reel is rated. This is due to the PE line’s extremely thin diameter.

Octobraid is extremely striking when set up on a fly reel as it features a multicolored finish. Every few meters Octobraid changes to an alternative color and brings your favorite setup to life!

Be sure to pair your saltwater fly reels up with a full spool or even two spools of Octobraid to be able to handle those long fast runs!
