Old School Come Back – Split Cane
In 2019 Reel Fly Fishing released the first batch of split cane fly rods to the South African market. Discerning customers who purchased a few of the select split cane fly rods are still using them on special occasions to celebrate their love for the subtlety that split cane rods offer. Our new 2021 version have taken about 2 years to finalize and the most popular taper the “T&T 7632” will be the first out of the gate. The 2021 models feature a number of key differences particularly in their finish, colours and design. This particular stock model is a modern yet traditional approach to how split cane fly rods used to look while still giving it that uniquely RFF flair!
Assembling the new range of split cane rods in South Africa means we can adjust and make each rod unique to your exact needs (please contact us regarding this process)
This supremely beautiful taper is the most popular due to its relatively familiar feel and fast action for a split cane, when compared to the more traditional tapers. The Reel Fly Fishing 7632 split cane is the perfect rod for Rhodes and the smaller Drakensburg and Eastern Cape streams where dry fly fishing is one of the most trusted methods.
