Tip Top Guide

Fly tops, tippy top or tip tops are the very end guide on a fly fishing rod. They take the brunt of the pressure and are of critical importance when building a custom rod. A larger tip top will allow for a more free flowing cast, easier pass through of leaders and knots, however accuracy can be affected as a larger diameter means there is more movement of the fly line within the “ring”. A small tip top has better accuracy but can throttle a fly lines speed and distance.
