Gravity Fly Rods is a collective effort from both Shaun and Daniel, and the G-Series of graphene-powered fly rods pushes the boundaries of what you can expect from a South African brand.

Gravity Fly Rods ushers in the latest advances in materials and techniques to the modern South African fly fisher. Utilizing graphene extensively through the blanks has resulted in fly rods that are stronger, lighter, and more precise. Careful attention has been paid to every aspect of the G-Series, from high-quality components and materials, small intricate touches to the South African flag being displayed proudly on the fly blank and rod tubes.

X-factor Angling and REEL Fly Fishing are the first locally-based companies to offer Graphene powered fly rods to South African fly anglers.

Working Together:

Combing our knowledge and skillset has allowed us to create GRAVITY with a range of specialized fly rods that offer incredibly high performance with a build quality to match. Development, design, and testing time was nearly two years for Gravity Fly Rods. This extensive development time meant we could refine each rod to ensure that not only surpasses fly rods at a much higher price point but also to redefine what a fly rod at our price point can offer.

From The Ground Up:

Creating a blank from the ground up results in a fly rod that is beautifully balanced, poised, and designed to maximize its length and action. The Gravity G-series are dedicated 10-foot fly rods with a FAST action and ULTRA-FAST recovery rate. These fly rods lend themselves exceptionally well to still waters and larger rivers. The G-Series length gives you a host of immediate benefits, such as improved tippet protection, easier loading, and better reach when nymphing.

The feedback and sensation that Graphene provides to the angler results in a fly rod that behaves like an extension of your arm. Pin-point accuracy is accompanied by a sublimely smooth fast action that turns over big flies with ease, or when needed can delicately lay a dry fly down effortlessly.

The recovery rate is one of the stand-out features of the G-Series and was the driving force behind the use of Graphene. We further increased the recovery rate by keeping the blank raw and unsanded. The unsanded blank also increases our fly rods’ overall action while reducing the swing weight.
