The strongest monofilament! Low stretch, highest tensile strength!
For all types of fishing and applications where less stretch is desired and a little more rigidity can be accepted. STROFT LS is also characterized by the highest tensile strengths ever achieved in a monofilament.
The STROFT LS was developed on the basis of a new polyamide alloy. The focus of the tuning is on reducing stretch while at the same time ensuring the highest possible tensile strength. This is what the abbreviation LS (for Low Stretch) stands for. The “stretch properties” diagram (see catalog under STROFT LS) shows a breaking stretch (at 100% line load) of approx. 17% for STROFT LS (curve in purple). This is significantly lower than for the other polyamide lines or for fluorocarbon lines. In the area of strike stretch (approx. 50% line load) LS is also significantly lower with an elongation of approx. 9%. (Only braided lines made of UHMWPE have an even lower elongation). In the area of fine load stretch (approx. 10% line load) LS is also below the other polyamide lines, but slightly above fluorocarbon. The tensile strength values for diameters between 0.10 mm and 0.60 mm are the highest that have ever been achieved for monofilaments. This applies to both the tensile strength with knots and the tensile strength without knots. In the area of thinner diameters, the values are still similar to the GTM, but then increase continuously. The 0.60 mm STROFT LS can support an impressive 33.0 kg! So if you want the lowest possible stretch with the highest possible load-bearing capacity and you can accept a little more rigidity, then STROFT LS is the first choice. The slightly greater rigidity also means a little more memory, which can also have a negative effect when tying knots (depending on the type of knot). If such a knot is not tied “correctly” (see catalog “Appendix”), the line can “curl” slightly. The same applies during practical use, for example due to a sharp edge. However, this “curl” can be removed relatively easily if it is not too strong. If this is taken into account, STROFT LS should also be of interest to fly fishermen. The slightly higher stiffness, compared to softer lines, improves the stretching and unrolling behavior of the fly leader, especially the tippet tip.
A fantastic leader option and for nymphing applications where minimal stretch helps set your strike even quicker. Should be used in nymphing with a soft tip fly rod.
